OFFSHORE NMEA 2000 Cable and Connectors

NMEA 2000, abbreviated to NMEA2k or N2K and standardized as IEC 61162-3, is a plug-and-play communications standard used for connecting marine sensors and display units within ships and boats. The equipment designed to this standard will have the ability to share data, including commands and status with other compatible equipment over a single channel. It is based on CAN (Controller Area Network). All NMEA 2000® products must be certified by NMEA. Although this standard is 50 times faster than NMEA 0183, it is not intended to support high-bandwidth applications such as video. NMEA 2000® represents the cumulative efforts of the NMEA 2000® Standards Committee, a committee of multi-national industry and government subject matter experts and professionals who have contributed time and expertise to the development this standard.

Now a days, the marine electronics devices like multi-functional display, to include in a network are GPS receivers, auto pilots, wind instruments, depth sounders, navigation instruments, engine instruments, and nautical chart plotters. The interconnectivity among instruments in the network allows, for example, the GPS receiver to correct the course that the autopilot is steering.

With Amphenol LTW NMEA 2K certified connector & cable assys, customers have the option of procuring the cable and connectors as a starter kit or as individual pieces for easy connecting and installing of NMEA2000 network and display devices. It built not only with robust design and construction, IPX8 Waterproof function, but also a promise of easy installation and guaranteed NMEA2000 network standard.
